Tallahassee Rollergirls Leg Wrestling Tournament!

Have you ever wanted to leg wrestle a Tallahassee Rollergirl? Here is your chance!

I recently contributed my art and design time to make the graphic assets for the TRG Leg Wrestling Tournament that is happening on July 26th. Starting with the TRG logo I worked up a new image for the tournament as well as a poster and art for the exclusive t-shirt for the event. Spread the word and be sure to come on out for the big event! Here are the assets I made and all the pertinent information about the event...

Come out for leg wrestling, music, and MORE! July 26th!

T-shirt art and the most generous sponsors for the event!

A mock up the shirt that EVERYBODY who is ANYBODY will be wearing this summer.
Be sure to attend and wrestle to get yours! RAWR!

I hope to see you out there on July 26th at the Hop Yard for all the Tallahassee Rollergirls leg wrestling fun that you could possibly want. Come for the leg wrestling and stay for the music and fun!

*EDIT* Since originally creating this post I have acquired actual samples of the finished shirts! Here are some really bad photos of what these awesome shirts look like!

Nothing like some bad photos of something cool to make you want it!

That is all for another exciting Wednesday on the blog, see you back here on Friday! Until then...

Jawa... UTINNI!

UTINNI! Today I have for you a new traditionally painted Star Wars piece. This time around it is a small portrait of a Jawa. As with Chief Chirpa, I wanted to work a bit smaller for this one, see how quickly I could finish it and try out some new materials on it. I present you with a very small Jawa...

As with my other Star Wars piece I have been doing for myself the initial drawing is much larger then the final painting... this time even more so. The Jawa drawing is a square on 9 x 12 paper. Since I knew it was going to end up so much smaller I decided to work a little looser and quicker on the drawing. Once it was shrunk down to 4 x 4 it really tightened up and was perfect for the painting. Here is how the drawing turned out...

I was working very quickly on this one, but still managed to get some images of it along the way. Here is the Jawa coming together in paint form... more or less...

Here is another handy dandy animated gif of all those images so you can look at them all at once...

As an added bonus, here is a little video to go with a little Jawa. This was originally posted up on Instagram (where I like to post little videos of me working and photos of my drawings while I am working on them). You can see my skills of using a pencil to... um... paint? It is still painting when I use a pencil, right?

Adding some detail at the end... RAWR!

That is all for another exciting Monday on the blog, see you back here on Wednesday! Until then...

Fresh from the drawing table... Brownie!

I have for you another drawing that is fresh from the drawing table. This time around it is a Brownie! Still working my way through "B". So many monsters, so little time. This one sort of just happened while I was planning out some more mundane "B" monsters. I present to you my version of a Brownie…

Going into this piece I kept thinking about an old ArtOrder challenge I did way back in 2009, the Garreth challenge. There was part of me that considered just appropriating one of those designs... but I felt in the end that it would be disingenuous to my D&D MM redesign project. Besides, the Garreth concepts are five years old, and I am not the same artist that originally drew those. As far as the Brownie as a monsters... well, it is just another in a long line of creepy little humanoid creatures that seem to fill every ecological niche they can find. With what I know of real world humans and they LOVE for things that are different I am shocked that the humans of the Realms have not systematically whipped out all other non-human intelligent life. Maybe the humans of the Realms are more tolerant and accepting then the real thing... go figure! RAWR!

My first 100 original Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual redesigns (A - Z): Aerial Servant, Ankheg, Ant (Giant), Ape (Carnivorous), Ape (Gorilla), Axe Beak, Axe Beak (version 2), Baboon, Badger, Barracuda, Basilisk, Baluchitherium, Bear (Black), Bear (Brown), Bear (Cave), Beaver (Giant), Beetle (Giant) - Bombardier, Beetle (Giant) - Boring, Beetle (Giant) - Fire, Beetle (Giant) - Rhinoceros, Beetle (Giant) - Stag, Beetle (Giant) - Water, Beholder, Black Pudding, Blink Dog, Boar (Giant), Boar (Warthog), Boar (Wild), Brain Mole, Brownie, Bugbear, Buffalo, Bulette, Carrion Crawler, Catoblepas, Cerebral Parasite, Chimera, Cockatrice, Coutal, Crab (Giant), Demon Type III (Glabrezu), Demon (Juiblex), Demon (Manes), Devil (Ice), Dragon (Red), Elemental (Earth), Ettin, Eye of the Deep, Flightless Bird, Frog (Giant), Fungi (Violet), Giant (Hill), Goblin, Golem (Flesh), Hobgoblin, Homunculus, Hydra, Imp, Intellect Devourer, Ixitxachitl, Jackal, Jacklewere, Jaguar, Ki-Rin, Kobold, Lich, Lizard (Giant), Lizardman, Manticore, Mind Flayer, Minotaur, Naga, Neo-Otygugh, Nixie, Ochre Jelly, Ogre, Owlbear, Peryton, Pixie, Purple Worm, Quasit, Ram (Giant), Roper, Rust Monster, Sahuagin, Salamander, Shambling Mound, Treant, Troglodyte, Troll, Umber Hulk, Unicorn, Vampire, Wasp (Giant), Wight, Wyvern, Xorn, Yeti, and Zombie.

Star Wars: Age of Rebellion

Today on the blog I have for you some new Star Wars work! The core sourcebook for Age of Rebellion has just been released, and that means I can share the two character pieces that I produced for it. This time around, I add another Trandoshan to my growing tribe of space lizard man pieces, and my very first Quarren! Here are how the final pieces turned out...

First off, if you are wondering what is written on the sign that the Quarren is smashing, it says, "Make a difference" in Aurebesh. My little Imperial propaganda contribution to the piece. At the time this book had its art assigned I was too busy to take anything on more than a pair of isolated character pieces - which I was thrilled to do and very happy with their finished illustrations - but man, there are some exciting and fun illustrations in the book I would have liked to do. It is just full of great art! Age of Rebellion is a new group of RPG books that, along with Edge of the Empire, will flesh out the RPG world of Star Wars. Here is how the pieces looked in the book (which is in stores now! and sorry for the crappy images)...

Never trust a Trandoshan, they are flip-floppers...

Apparently, I had just a little too much flying glass and sparks to fit into the final layout.

Thanks go out to Zoe Robinson for another exciting Star Wars project! There will be more Star Wars on the blog in the fullness of time... RAWR!

That is all for another exciting Wednesday, see you back here on Friday! Until then...

Yucatan Monster Reference

Today is a holiday in these parts so I am letting the monsters run the blog today. To that end, they have decided to share some monster reference that I took during my recent trip to the Yucatan. Turtles, iguanas, and coati... OH MY! Lots of wonderful scale and pattern information in some of these as well as some movement reference in two videos! Hope you enjoy...

Video time! The iguanas at Tulum were the most mild mannered and allowed me to get the closest. Because of that, here are a pair of videos showing an iguana in action, doing his thing...

RAWR!
