Ape, Carnivorous

I always thought the Carnivorous Ape was a weird entry. I understand there are weird GIANT entries for things like crayfish and beavers... you sometimes want to fight a really huge crayfish. But when it came to the Carnivorous Ape I always wondered why it was there... I guess if a band of adventurers slaughter a troop of mundane apes I would begin to question the motives of the players and DM. I guess by making a sub group of angry apes that eat nothing but meat you suddenly have a monster. I decided to take it a little further and make them a little more advanced which allowed some justification for their aggressiveness and interest in meat. They are a species on the assent and just trying to mark out a place for themselves in the world... too bad that world is full of monsters and players...

Interesting take on it. It's definitely a creepy thought that something like a chimp or orang utan, which is already several times stronger than a human, would decide to hamburger helper your face. Chimps can be pretty vicious anyway. Let's just hope they don't see this post.
