Fresh from the drawing table... Crayfish (Giant)!

I have for you another drawing that is fresh from the drawing table. This time around it is a Crayfish (Giant)! Continuing with the "C" monsters we arrive at another giant version of a mundane critter, a crayfish. Pretty much a giant insect, but this one lives in the water. I present to you my version of a Crayfish (Giant)…

Continuing in my traditon of giant dead insect things floating in the water I present to you the Giant Crayfish. Not quite big enough to build a tower on, but big enough to tie your boat to for repairs... right before the giant parasites that killed the Giant Crayfish eat you. That is the circle of life in the Realms after all, you have to expect such things. Not going to blame an idiot with a spell for these Giant Crayfish. Most likely they are totally natural, or at least the product of an overzealous crayfish farmer that really wanted to win the local fair. Totally normal, totally not made with magic... nope, not this time... TOTALLY not the fault of magic. Yep, totally the fault of magic and now hundreds are dead.

Fresh from the drawing table... Crab (Giant)!

I have for you another drawing that is fresh from the drawing table. This time around it is a Crab (Giant)! Continuing with "C" monsters, I have for you today a mighty crustacean that came here to eat your face and chew bubble gum... and it is all out of bubble gum. I present to you my version of a Crab (Giant)…

I continue to stick by my belief that most, if not all GIANT versions of mundane monsters are the work of some mad wizard with WAY too much free time. ...Or that the Realms are way more radioactive then first thought. Maybe the rift in time and space that keeps allowing Beholders, Mind Flayers, and dinosaur people through is actually irradiating the planet and causing most of problems that adventures face. No matter the cause, the Giant Crab continues to scuttle about the beach eating anything it can grab in it huge beefy craw. ...that tasty tasty huge beefy crab claw. On second thought, maybe the Giant Crab is in more danger then it actually creates. The Giant Crab is sought out by Dwarvian foodies, its shell used as armor by pirates, and let us not forget that one dumb druid that tried to tame it so they could ride it as a mount... Froothian the Druid, you will be forever missed.

Gulf Specimen Marine Lab Reference Drop - December

Over the weekend I made another trip to the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, and I have you today a collection of images that I took of this visit. As I have mentioned in the past, this is a great facility! Their Hagfish was very active while we were there and it was a treat to see it. I purchased an annual pass during this most recent visit, so I plan on returning many more times in 2016! Here is but a small selection of the animals they have on display...

Gulf Specimen Marine Lab reference drop

I recently returned to a local aquarium, the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, and I have you today a collection of images that I took of this visit. This is a great facility and I don't visit it nearly enough. An unexpected highlight of this visit was the presence of giant isopods, or sea roaches. They arrived at the aquarium the week before and a suitable tank is still being prepared. The Gulf Specimen Marine Lab also rescues and rehabilitates marine life that is hurt or sick. They currently have a number of sea turtles on display that will eventually be released back to the wild. Here is but a small selection of the animals they have on display...
