Pathfinder Pawns: Shattered Star - The Return of the Redcap

Sometimes I discover that my work has had a life beyond its original purpose, both legal and illeagal, and I enjoy to share those return appaearaces. I keep an ear to the ground and an eye on the internet to share these occurances in a timely manner... and then there are the ones I miss for an entire decade. Back in 2013 one of my Pathfinder monsters that is now thirteen years old was tuned into a pawn. A pawn is not as cool as a miniature, but it is still neat. To start things off, here is the cover packaging for the Pathfinder Pawns: Shattered Star collection.

The monster that got the pawn treatment was a dastardly Redcap by the name of Dog's Tongue. As mentioned above, this painting was from 2010, and it got a miniature in 2012. It is always interesting to see which monsters return and which are forgotten. It is often not the monsters I was expecting for both fates. Here is the final painting for Dog's Tongue the Redcap.

Lastly, here is a look at how the Redcap turned out on the pawn. You get two of them, and they mostly fit onto the pawn. They are also small - as this is a small creature.

That's all for another exciting week on the blog! See you back here next week! Until then...

Paizo Redcap Miniature

I am traveling to Altoona, Pa. today for Illuxcon V, but that is no reason not to make sure there is a post on the blog. Thanks to the airport having WiFi I have a small post...

A few months ago I saw a preview for some of the Paizo miniatures slated for release. One in particular caught my eye and looked a little familiar. If I am not completely mistaken the Redcap mini has been based on an illustration that I did a couple years back of a Redcap named Dog's Tongue. I will let you be the final judge, here is some images of the miniature...

Here is what is now a very old illustration that I did of the redcap. Looks like it was the inspiration of the miniature to me and that makes me happy. I have always loved miniatures and any time I can be involved in them - even unknowingly - I am thrilled.

That is all for today, I have a very long day of flight ahead of me and 3 more airports before I get to Altoona. I will start my coverage of Illuxcon V starting tomorrow with a recap of the journey and anything interesting that may happen. See you in Altoona! Until then...

Pathfinder: Bestiary 2

I received my copy of Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Bestiary 2 in the mail last week and was happy to see some old friends. Though I didn't have the chane to produce any new pieces for the book, the Redcap, Gryph and Badger I had previously produced showed up in it...

If you look closely you might notices a little typo on art credit, the Gryph is in fact and the Witchwyrd is not. The book is filed with a lot of awesome monsters! Hopefully when number three comes around I will get the chance to add some new monsters to it. As a fun side note Paizo has also released a poster of all the monsters from Bestiary 2... Gotta kill 'em all!

See you back here on Friday for the last post of the year. Nothing huge and monumental... yet. Until then...
