Kickstarter Roundup - Horsley

Today on the blog, I wanted to point out a current Kickstarter project that I think you all might be interested in. I am thrilled to share this Kickstarter with you because not only is this person a genuinely fantastic artist, but he is also a dear friend. If you have not already checked it out, you should do so NOW!

 

Ralph Horsley: An Art Adventure

My wife and I have known Ralph for years, and this book is a long time in coming. Ralph's career is full of breathtakingly complex battle scenes, monsters of magic and horror, and images from dozens of worlds. You are likely already familiar with his work, and or the first time, Ralph Horsley: An Art Adventure will be bringing Ralph's work into one volume. This is something not to miss!

The book funded quickly, and it is currently blasting through stretch goals, increasing the size of the book. There are still tiers available to get artwork if you so choose, or only the book. As I have said, I am so excited about this project. I often think I am verse in Ralph's work only to be surprised by work I have never seen.

I look forward to this book to revisit my favorite works and to discover gems I missed before. The book will be arranged into themed chapters, and each chapter focuses on different aspects of Ralph's art. 3Here are two samples of what to expect from Ralph Horsley: An Art Adventure, and I couldn't be more excited about it.

Twenty-two years and one month later, we are funded and on our way to the printers! My endless thanks to everyone that helped to make this day a reality. We could not have done it with you. To all that recorded themselves reading sections of the book, Allen Panakal, Ralph Horsley, Kayla King, Daniel Hooker, Chris Seaman, Iris Compiet, Scott M Fischer, Jabari Weathers, and of course the great Todd Lockwood, THANK YOU for your time and energy to support the project. And lastly, thanks to each and every one of you that backed the Kickstarter, shared the links, shouted from the rooftops, and supported me along the way! We made it! It's done, and there will be books soon!

After a little rest, it will be time to double down on getting back to work on the next books in the series. I have many more stories to tell, monsters to create, and art to make.

I have a lot of non-Grand Bazaar blog posts to share with you. Stuff that has been sitting around and waiting for me to have the time to share it. Well, now that the Kickstarter is over and the Grand Bazaar is out of my hands, I will have that time.

Coloring a Footman by Amy Jiao and New Selected Reading From the Grand Bazaar by Ralph Horsley and Allen Panakal!

A LOT to share with you today! We are in the last days, and things are coming fast and thick.
The amazing Achsa Nute (who is also my wife) reached out to several artists to see if they would like to color one of the monsters from The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia Coloring Book. They, of course, said yes because they are awesome and cool. Next up, we have for you today the contribution of the amazing Amy Jiao, who brought color to the Ophiomornous Bureaucrat.

The Grand Coloring Book of Ethra VanDalia measures 9x12 and is 84 pages. It features one-sided art with solid black on the reverse side to allow marker use and to limit bleeding. The book is available separately on my Kickstarter and is bundled with several of the other tiers so that you can receive the coloring book and the rest of the books offered in my campaign. Here is how the Footman will appear in the main book.

Kickstarter Roundup - Chris Seaman, Ralph Horsley, & Artorder

Today I have for you three active Kickstarters that you should check out if you already haven't. All three are from folks near and dear to me and I would really like to see their projects funded and their dreams made reality.

First up, Cameo Creeps by Chris Seaman! I LOVE these miniature monster portraits. Love them so much we own three of the originals and proudly display them. Now is your chance to get your hands on an original or any number of the reproductions. I can not express enough how cool these are.

Second, Wildborn by Ralph Horsley! Ralph had been working on a series of dragon paintings that feature dragons in their natural habitats for a number of years now and he is finally collecting them into one book. I am a big fan of these pieces as well. The very first piece of art my wife ever bought was one of the very first Wildborn pieces Ralph created. It is the dragon by the waterfall in the image below. It is still most likely my wife's favorite piece that we own. I can't wait to see and have the finished book.

Last, but not least, ArtOrder Invitational: The Journal art book by Artorder (Jon Schindehette)! Jon have been working on this for two years and brings together a very impressive group of artists who will be sharing their work and creative process in this journal. This looks amazing and should be interesting for artist and non artist alike. My words will fail at how cool this is, you just need to follow the links and check it out yourself. This is one not to miss.
