2023 Art vs Artist & Instragram Top Nine

Today, I am ending and beginning. 2023 is now over and 2024 is starting and with that comes some unfinished posts from the end of 2023 - namely, my 2023 Art vs Artist and my top nine images of the year on Instagram. I'm not sure I have much more to say about any of this. To be honest, I am debating if I will do a 2023 review post here on the blog. If I do one, it will likely be short and to the point. But until that happens, here are some images to look back on as we think about 2023.

I did create many of these small portraits this year.

A mix of things this year. A surprising amount of older work showing up.

Well, I guess we are back at it now. Time to start 2024 and to see where it takes us.

That's all for another exciting Monday on the blog. See you back here on Wednesday! Until then...

Art Vs Artist and Top Nine 2022

One final blog post for 2022. This marks post 105 for 2022 as well. This is not the lowest number of posts for a year, but it is certainly not the highest. I will speak more about 2022 in the coming weeks, but I will say it has been another challenging year to make art - for innumerable reasons. But as I have said, that is for a convertions another day. For now, I will leave you with the 2022 year-end art vs. artist and the top nine images from this past year on Instagram. There is some crossover, but not much.

That's all for another year on the blog. I will try to have my year-in-review post up before the end of January, but that might be a hard goal to reach. I will see you back here in 2023! Until then...

Unexpected Last Post of 2020

While I thought I had wrapped up all my posts for 2020 here on the blog, it looks like there was one more. I have mentioned more than once that 2020 was a challenging year for me artistically. While I saw the completion, funding, and publishing of my first illustrated novel in the Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia series, I spent much of the year unable to produce art. It wasn't until the last several months that I could get back to the table and get back to work. I know many of you out there were in the same boat, are still in the same boat, or can relate to this as it pertains to your lives. Needless to say, I think this all is made more manifest by my Instagram top nine for 2020. My posts were way down, my numbers on links and comments on the posts are way down, and the work that was most interacted with was almost exclusively client work, much of which was old reposts, and one piece of my linework colored by Jacob Walker. I am a little surprised that my new personal work is nowhere to be seen here, but there is nothing I can, or care, to do about it. This is in no way something to take personally, and it will affect me in no way moving forward. It is all merely an observation through one lens. Here are my top nine images according to what I posted on Instagram in 2020, and the numbers of interactions they each had.

Top Nine Instagram Images for 2019

One last post for 2019. Here are my top nine images that I shared this year as per the interactions on Instagram. It is always interesting to see what filters to the top each year. Or possibly the image was just posted at the right time to get a lot of eyes on it. And, by the way, if you did not already know, I have an Instagram page you can follow! Here are the top nine.

Instagram Palette?

I have been noticing people posting their Instagram palettes, and it got me curious. Why are people posting their Instagram palettes? Still, have not figured it out, but I went and got my own Instagram palette. Not really sure how far back it goes to pull colors, but from the looks of mine, it is mainly pulling from all my toned paper work from the last couple of years. I guess it is pretty neat, though it is out of context for me. For those interested, here is my Instagram color palette...

BEHOLD! My Instagram palette!

And, by the way, if you did not already know, I have an Instagram page you can follow!

I did want to mention I plan on posting a 2018 year in review post. Things are a little crazy right now, and I am doing all I can to make sure it gets written in a timely manner. Sometimes hard to stop writing the book so that I can write about me writing on the book. More on this soon!

That is all for another exciting Wednesday, see you back here on Friday! Until then...
