Charity weekend wrap up - THANKS EVERYBODY!

A super big thanks to everyone out there that helped out with and contributed to the various Spread the Love events this past weekend. Many more thanks to everyone who called in or stopped by in person to bid in the silent auction on Saturday. Saturday was amazingly awesome and from what I hear, very successful. The art auction alone raised over $1400!

More thanks goes out to all that bid on my ebay auction that concluded yesterday. My Dreamblade drawings are going to a very good home. I hope he won't mind me mentioning it, by our very own custom miniature guru David Thies was the winning bidder! You might recall my posts about David's excellent work, if not, you can check it out HERE, HERE, and HERE. Many thanks David!

Somehow with all these events going on I still was able to finish a drawing that I have been working on for myself. Hopefully this little guy will be back soon in a more colorful state. For now, here he is in all his black and white glory...

It has tentacles, so you know it is going be good!

Two-Faced Freak Custom by Byleui

I got an early Christmas gift this week, photos of a custom miniature based off of one of my unreleased Dreamblade designs. Custom miniature extraordinaire and blog follower Byleui, also know to the world as David Thies, has been hard at work again! You may remember some of David's other customs, the Blob with Body and the Flagbearer. This time out he tackled the Two-Faced Freak and I really like how it turned out.

Here is my turnaround for comparison

Here is David's work in all its' glory!

Here are some thoughts about the miniature that David shared on Flickr:

"I started with the two faces of Freakazoid, altered them and attached them to a sculpture of polymer clay. "

As always, great work David! He told me that he should be moving onto the Executioner next. I will be sure to post images as soon as he completes it. To see more of David's custom work be sure to check out his gallery on Flickr.

I should have some holiday themed posts for you next week. As a heads up, I most likely will be taking the following week off. I need the break and some time to get my thoughts together. I hope to bring you all something special for the beginning of the New Year. Until then...

Blob with Body Custom by Byleui

He has gone and done it again! Over the weekend I received a message from poster and blog follower Byleui, also know to the world as David Thies. David has completed another great custom miniature based on my unused designs for Dreamblade. This time around he choose the "Blob with Body" to work his magic on.

Here is David's work in all its' glory!

Here are some thoughts about the miniature that David shared on Flickr:

"Body is derived from Nosferatix, but since she doesn't have a neck, I decided to use Doomball as the donor for a head transplant.

Once I had the Body, the rest was easy. The "Blob" is Liquid Nails Clear Seal sealant."

Great work David! As always, can't wait to see what you come up with next. If you missed David's first custom you can find it HERE. To see more of David's other custom work you can check out pics over on Flickr. Until next time...

Flagbearer Custom by Byleui

I had a really awesome comment left over the weekend on my post about the unreleased Dreamblade miniature, the Flagbearer. The comment had a link to Flickr and some pics of a custom Flagbearer miniature by Byleui, aka David Thies. I have to say I am REALLY impressed with the job he did on it. I am also humbled by the time an effort he put into creating something I designed. This was indeed a treat and very unexpected. I look forward to seeing what David comes up with next!

David's Flagbearer

A couple more views of David's handy work

Here is what he had to say about the custom figure:

"OK, some six weeks later, I think I've managed to do justice to your artwork for Flagbearer. It was actually a lot of fun to construct, especially the weaving of the body from 1/8th-inch ribbon (stiffened with Superglue)." - from my blog

"It's hard to say just how long the Flagbearer took, since it was done in 5-minute increments over a month or so. I could probably make another in a weekend, doing very little else. It started with a bamboo skewer for the flagpole and some Testors Plastic Putty and Superglue Gel for the fittings. The flag was made from a high-quality cloth-like paper towel I picked up at the Alamance Country Club men's room (gotta be resourceful!). I painted the pole and flag with Testor's Enamel model paints. And for the body, I took 1/8th-inch polyester ribbon and glued it down with Superglue (holding the ribbon in place then dabbing it with the glue; once the glue soaks into it, it stiffens up in a few seconds)." - from the WotC Dreamblade Forums

If you would like to see more of David's customs he has a ton of them over on Flickr. You should take the time to head over and check them out!
