One of a Kind Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia Playmats - NOW AVAILABLE!

I recently had four sample playmats printed featuring select images from The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia. I was interested to see how these images would look as playmats and if playmats were a good fit for this project. I am happy to say they printed beautifully, but I am not sure that playmats are the best avenue at this time for this art.

That said, I now have four one of a kind playmats available for anyone interested. Each is standard size, come signed and numbered, and will be not created again in this format or likely at all. For those interested, just follow the link before and select any that you are interested in!

Time Show

Over the weekend the Time show curated by Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire at Haven Gallery opened. As I have mentioned here on the blog, I was asked to be part of the show and my Keeper of the Clocks piece from the Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia was my submission. I could not attend the opening since it was happening many states away, but I was able to see lots of images online as well as several being sent to me. I am sharing some of those images here on the blog today so you can get a look at the great art that made up the Time show. Thanks to Haven Gallery and Chris Kotsakis for the images!

TIME Show - Opens Tomorrow!

Tomorrow night, May 19th, 2018, the TIME show opens at Haven Gallery. I first mentioned my involvement with the show a few weeks ago. The show is curated by Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire (the folks behind IX), and I am THRILLED to be a part of it. The show opens tomorrow and runs through June 23rd. While I will not be able to make it to the show, I imagine there will be many artists from the show on hand for the opening reception.

This will be the first time one of my big environmental pieces for The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia will be out in the wild, and it will be available to purchase at the gallery. The rest of the pieces will remain on hold till the Kickstarter for the book, but this piece will be up for grabs as part of the TIME show. To do it justice, we got the piece done up in a nice new custom frame, and I could not be happier with how it turned out. Also got it a nice new shipping box. Spared no expense to make sure the Keeper looked her best and made it safely to New York.

While I had planned this piece all along for my project, I actually had to move it to the front of the queue to make the show deadline. Really glad it worked out this way since it gave me a little more pressure to get it done, and I am really happy with how this one turned out.

Keeper of the Clocks - The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia

I have a new piece from The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia! With all the monsters complete, it is now time to begin exploring the Grand Bazaar itself. The first stop is in the clock tower that stands in front of the great tower of Ethra VanDalia. Ethra's connection and interaction with time have always been troublesome. It has taken a lot of work and some special modifications to get a chronometer to function this close to Ethra. The Construct Guild was up to the challenge, and through a fair bit of sacrifice, the clocks now function. If you are interested, the Construct Guild is always looking for volunteers to join the team to keep the clocks ticking.

Due to the complexity of these larger full environment piecesheadaches I am now working on, I have needed to do value studies to make sure I know where I am going and don't lose my way. Doing these value studies has been one of the best course of action on this project and have saved me a lot of headache. Here is the value study for the Keeper of the Clocks.
