Zoo Atlanta Reference - Scale, Feather, and Fur

Today I have for you a new collection of photo reference that I took while visiting Zoo Atlanta on the return trip from Gen Con. It has become a yearly tradition to stop and check in on the pandas and all the other animals at the zoo after the best four days in gaming. This year offered up some great reference! Some of it was from animals previously encountered while other is from animals new to us at the zoo. I hope you find this reference as useful to you as I find it to me. Happy BLOG-a-versary!

Two years and 334 post ago I started this blog! How the time just flies by! As always when I hit these milestones I am shocked by the fact that I have kept this blog going and awed by the support, comments and encouragement that you all give back to me for all my efforts.

Many many thanks to you all on this anniversary and I hope that I continue to provide interesting and relevant post regarding the ups and downs of my life as an artist. Three posts a week always seems like a lot, but I have continued to make it happen each week.

As tradition dictates, I need to now post a panda drawing to mark this milestone. Today I have one that I recently completed. It follows on the theme of bad pandas causing havoc around the world. I guess it has been a very panda filled week! Thanks again to you all for stopping by, here is to the start of another year on the blog!

Love it or hate it, today is Valentine's Day. I have plenty of anecdotes to persuade you either way on this hearty chocolaty day. In attempts to maintain my natural standing, I have a couple of visual offering that I hope will appease everyone and their personal opinions of this, the pinkest of all days....

Panda Book - NOW AVAILABLE!

I mentioned recently that I made a book of my panda drawings for my wife. That book is now available on Lulu.com! As per my wife's wishes, all proceeds from the sale of this book will be going toward organizations that help the giant panda. It is a win/win situation! Help pandas and get a panda book!

Panda Book

For Christmas I complied the first 36 panda drawings that I have done for my wife into a 42 page book simply titled, Pandas 1 - 36. The huge difference between panda bears and tentacled monsters is not lost on me. This was meant to be a one off personal gift but my wife thought that this could be a good way to help out real pandas if people were interested.

She suggested that I could make the book available through Lulu and have the proceeds go to the Wolong Panda Reserve or other charity that helps the panda. I put to you then, is this something you might be interested in purchasing to help some real pandas? If I get enough of a response I will set the gears in motion to make this book available.

Starting off with a stumble...

Is it 2011 already? When did that happen? ...Oh, probably sometime in the last ten day that I spent on my back sick. Blew right through my holiday vacation and all that time I was going to put toward getting caught up on deadlines and personal projects. Oh well... I am just ten days further behind, worse things have happened. I had a lot planned for the blog this week and was too sick to get any of it done. Bare with me as I try to get caught up and back on track. This week might be a little light as I get my ducks in a row. To not leave you empty handed, I have a panda for you... he is sad about discovering a tentacle in his soup...

300th post and some self promotion!

HOLY CRAP! 300 posts! How did that happen?! Many many thanks to everyone that subscribes, comments and in general lurks this blog. Without you all I would have abandoned it all a while ago. I hope I continue to entertain and inform! I have a lot of projects coming down the pipeline and I really look forward to sharing them all with you as soon as I can.

Speaking of entertaining and informing... Here is a giant panda destroying a city to entertain you...

To inform, I have a link that all you self promoters might want to check out. I got turned onto this over the weekend (thanks Rodney). It is about.me and it looks pretty interesting. About.me is currently in beta but you can sign up now and reserve you name. You will be notified when you can actually activate your account later but the important part if that you lock your name in.

They provide a splash page and link hub where you can then direct folks to your blog, online portfolio or Facebook gallery featuring your prodigious drinking skills. The calm before the storm...

Or am I in the eye of the storm? Whichever it is I am briefly coming up for air today. I have a stack of work to get through in the coming weeks and I have a stack of work I am patiently sitting on that I am eager to share with you here. My brain is far too busy to figure out something to share with you today so this panda offered to come by and do the thinking for me. Unfortunately it is after all just a panda and can't come up with more then thoughts of bamboo...

I must be counting wrong...

Somehow this is my 200th post on this blog! Not really sure how I got here but I am as shocked as you are. I would like to thank those who follow and leave comments here, without your participation and encouragement I could not keep this going! I think this is a great opportunity to let you know about some stuff I have coming down the pipeline...

Talisman: The Highland will be upon us soon! I did a bunch of card art for this newest Talisman expansion and I can't wait to share it with you. If you are a savvy Talisman fan... you might have already seen some ;)

Runebound: Mists of Zanaga will be out later this year! This was just recently announced and is the newest big box expansion for the Runebound universe. Like Talisman, I have card art in the set I eagerly look forward to sharing with you. Seeing how awesome this expansion is going to be... I wish I had taken more work on it!

Pathfinder Chronicles: Classic Treasures Revisited is out... I think! As soon as I know the NDA is removed I will be sure to bring you the work I did for this book. All I can say is, "Demon go BOOM!".

I have already mentioned my interview in Knockspell #4, but I was able to see a copy of KS #4 over the weekend and the interview is 3 pages! WOW, I was not expecting so much space in the issue!

I think that is enough of my secrets for now...

Happy BLOG-a-versary!

On this very day, one year ago, I started this blog! So after 174 posts, happy one year anniversary to me :)

Many many thanks to all of you who follow my blog, leave comments, link to me or otherwise frequent these posts. Without you guys I would have no reason to keep posting!

I will be the first to say I am shocked that I made it this far with this blog and that I have so many followers. I knew what I wanted to do with it, I just didn't know if I could keep it going or create any interest with it. So despite my best efforts here we are one year later!

To mark this occasion I will hearken back to the humble beginnings of this blog and post a panda drawing I recently did for my wife. She gets a lot of these from me and she chose this one to be shared with you today. So enjoy!

Off with a bang...

Since it is all the rage these days I figured I should get on the band wagon and get one of these here blogs set up....

In all seriousness I realized that my website has been a little lacking in updates lately and not for lack of working on my end. I have been working my tail off, honest! I have loads of work just waiting to go up once the projects they are connected to launch... and I can't wait! :)

I also realized not all of the work that I create is necessarily relevant to end up on my website. While we are on the subject of my website, I recently gave it a bit of a face lift in preparation of the new work coming done the pipeline and other as of now secrets.... If you have a chance head over there and see the new Home page monster and new gallery arrangement. Changes are still happening, so keep an eye out for them. Updates and additions will all be posted here as well. You can never have a big enough web footprint.

Now to some aRT. Here is a piece I did for my dear wonderful wife for this past weekend. ...there was some sort of holiday...
