May Blog Break

For the rest of the month, I will be taking a break from the blog. One must step away from time to time to try other things and experience new and different places. Fear naught, for I will return with plenty of images and stories. Until that time, I will leave you with this monster that I have had so many times before.

NOM NOM NOM NOM!

That is all for another exciting Monday on the blog. I will see you back here in a few weeks. Until then...

Open Mic'ers Podcast Interviews

Somehow I failed to post not one but TWO interviews that I did with the great folks over at Open Mic'ers Podcast. The first interview led up to Pensacon in February, and the second interview was a couple of weeks ago. There was so much to talk about that we never got to much the first time around, so we agreed I needed to return to pick up where we left off.

Here are the two interviews that I did. You will need to listen to them in order for the best experience. I hope you enjoy them!

That's all for another exciting week on the blog. See you back here on Monday! Until then...

Today I have for you a recent artist proofs that I added drawings to. If you are interested in getting any of these for yourself, just follow the links to my store. Also, I have recently signed a bunch of international Magic the Gathering cards. I am only familiar with the English versions of most of these cards, so it was fun to see thier international counterparts. Not every day cards from around the world make their way to your door. I hope you enjoy these images.

Jarroot, Jarre, and Glassware - The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia

I am thrilled to share another new piece from The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia. This illustration is for Book Two: The Completed Circle. This piece is a second supporting image for the book section dedicated to the Ambitious Farmhand. The main protagonist, the farmhand, works on a jarroot farm that processes the tuber to make the alcoholic beverage, Jarre. I present to you with Jarroot, Jarre, and Glassware.

This was the second of six smaller pieces I wanted to finish before moving to larger, more involved works in book two. Each section of book two will have at least two supporting pieces of art. They will help flesh out the section and add context to things in and beyond the Grand Bazaar. The main art for the first three sections of the book are completed, so it only seemed natural to complete the supporting pieces as well. With them finished, I have moved on to much larger pieces that will keep me in the chair drawing for a while. Here is a look at the sketch for the Jarroot, Jarre, and Glassware to show where it began.

As a bonus, I have some images of the rendering process of this piece so that you can get a better idea of it taking shape.
