ArtOrder Biker Gang - Revisited

If you haven't heard, Jon Schindehette is putting together a Best of ArtOrder book from all the work created in 2009 for his blog. To make the book even better, you are allowed to go back and revisit, repaint, touch up, tweak, and otherwise right your wrongs with pieces you had submitted. I decided it was time to finish up a piece that I really enjoyed doing for the Biker Gang Challenge. You might remember the piece I did for this challenge way back in June, if not, you can refresh your memory, HERE. A little painting later and we now have:

This also is my first finished painting of 2010, beating out a piece I am doing for a job by just a couple of days. I hope it makes it into the book, crossing my fingers! I should know by the end of the month if any of my work made it in.

See you back here on Friday when I share with you some client revisions and additions. Until then...

Amreth Gaunt, Master Merchant - Dungeon #172

A late post today, I have been traveling since 6:30 this morning and finally have two seconds to myself. So of course I take those two seconds and post a piece of art I did for Dungeon Magazine! Amreth Gaunt, Master Merchant went live today for issue #172 of Dungeon and I am pleased to share with you.

I did this piece at the same time I created the piece for Barbarian Essentials. As before I was working with Jon Schindehette on this. This was a fun piece to work on for sure. I love Dragonborn and I relish any opportunity to work on them.

As I mentioned I have been traveling all day and find myself finally in Altoona, Pa for Illuxcon! I hopefully will have loads to post and share. Things really get going tomorrow evening, but some cool stuff has already happen like sharing a taxi with Jeff Easley, YES, the Jeff Easley. Hopefully there will be more of that very soon. Until then...

Thank you everyone!

I wanted to take today to thank everyone who has recently started following me on twitter as well as subscribing to my blog, be it through Facebook, Google or Blogspot, not to mention watching me on Deviantart. I have noticed and I greatly appreciate everyone's time and interest. I hope I provide interesting content and relevant information about the projects I work on and the methods I use to create my work. It means a lot to me, because I can't fathom why you all are doing it ;)

I know I have not had a lot of newer work to show lately, not for trying though, 2009 is looking like my busiest year yet. In many ways everything I have been showing lately is new to but a small group of people that worked on these projects. My newer work is coming, we all must be patient. I am rather shocked when I think about just how much I have been working on this year and really look forward to showing it all off when the times comes.

Enough of my yammering, I have a deadline on Friday followed by some really exciting stuff in September. Can't wait to get started on that work! Again, thank you everyone! I am humbled by your interest and comments. Since I can't leave you without something to look at, here are some of the drawing that went into the Dragonborn armor I worked on, enjoy!

If you look carefully you might see where some things changed between these approved sketches and the final paintings.

Dragonborn Armor Designs #4

Rounding out the Dragonborn armor I present the male plate, scale, warlock and wizard armor turnarounds. If you are thinking that the plate armor looks familiar, well you are correct, I used it as a basis for the armor I gave the Dragonborn Paladin of Bahamut miniature I designed for the Demon Web minis expansion. I hope you are not getting bored with armor yet, because we have just skimmed the surface. Next week I will most likely start with the Tiefling armor, unless something more exciting poops up!

I removed the helm and added a lot of additional surface detail but the over all shapes are the same. I wanted to help create a more inclusive world feel for the player. If they used the Character Visualize to create a Dragonborn wearing the plate armor I designed I wanted them to have the option to have a miniature that matched that look.

Dragonborn Armor Designs #3

The male Dragonborn need not feel left out any longer. Here is the first installment of the male Dragonborn armor that I designed for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. With a few exceptions I think I am happier with how the female versions of the armor sets I designed turned out. The irony of this is not lost on me since I usually lean toward big hulking creatures (often mescaline) in my work and lean away from more feminine forms. Until next time...

Dragonborn Armor Designs #2

Today's post is a second grouping of female Dragonborn armor. This completes all eight female armor variations that I was assigned to create for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. There are male counterparts to all of these that should be showing up on the blog sometime next week. Until then...

Dragonborn Armor Designs #1

You may remember that several weeks ago I finally gained permission to show off work I created for unreleased Wizards of the Coast products. Today I am sharing some of the armor I designed for the Dungeons and Dragons Character Visualizer. Under the art direction of Stacy Longstreet I had the opportunity to design armor for the Dragonborn, Tiefling, Genasi and Warforged races. Needless to say I generated a great deal of art while working on this project. So not to overwhelm anyone I will be spreading out my posts of armor designs. Without further ado, here are four turnarounds for female Dragonborn armor:
