Grand Bazaar Coloring Book Pages by Veronica and Jeff Ritchie

One of the fun things about getting a book printed is getting two or even three books published. This is one of the reasons that when it came time to produce The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia that we looked into having a 5E D&D stats book and a coloring book made at the same time. I very much wanted the stats book, and my wife was entirely behind the coloring book. Today, I have for you some coloring book pages recently shared with me.

These pages are by Veronica and Jeff Ritchie. I have known Jeff since my time in LA, working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. Jeff was part of a group that raised money for charitable organizations that would have a big celebration every year in LA where people involved with the Angle and Buffy would come and meet with fans. I would suit up as monsters and demons from the show to take part in the events. Jeff has been a huge supporter of my work for many years, and he has been incredibly supportive of my efforts to make the Grand Bazaar a reality. While it is exciting to see what people do with the pages in the coloring book, it is super special to see Veronica and Jeff's creations. I love these so much! Thank you both for the support and friendship!

If you missed it yesterday, I was on the One Fantastic Week Podcast yesterday and had a great time. I talked about the Grand Bazaar Kickstarter, making art, balancing time, and what I have been up to in the past six years since I was on episode 6 of the podcast 6 years ago. I had a ton of fun, and I think I may have passed along some helpful information.

If you have a chance, by all means, have a watch. You might learn a thing or two about something!

A Closer Look at the Grand Coloring Book of Ethra VanDalia!

Bring a little color to the Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia.

Guest contributor Achsa Nute has some information regarding the Grand Coloring Book of Ethra VanDalia!

I don’t know if you heard, but we’re doing a coloring book from the BAZAAR!!! I’ve always liked the line art that comes at the beginning of Chris’s work. I always thought it would be fun to color. So I looked into what makes a good coloring book.

Images are single-sided with black backs.

It will be printed on good paper stock with images on only one side, so you don’t have to decide which picture to sacrifice. The back of each image will be printed in solid black to help prevent bleeding for anyone who likes to use markers.

At the centerfold is the Grand Map of the Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia

The map will be a two page spread across the center of the book, so if you want to keep it all attached, it’ll still be easy to color, but if you don’t, it’s all on one sheet.  We did our best to clean up a few of the earlier images that were from photos to make it complete, but most importantly, ALL of the environments have been made into lovely lines for your Bazaar coloring satisfaction. I feel like these will also make amazing gifts for those awesome kids and adults who love coloring and don’t get enough monsters.

Enjoy!

Dungeons & Dragons - Monsters and Heroes of the Realms - Coloring Book

The Dungeons & Dragons - Monsters and Heroes of the Realms Coloring Book was recently released and I go my hands on a copy over the weekend. Turns out that some of my work created for the 5th Edition Monster Manual was adapted for use in the coloring book! A surprise to me, but never the less pretty neat. Here is a look at the cover...

Dungeons & Dragons - Monsters and Heroes of the Realms Coloring Book

While I had nothing to do with the creation of this actual product, someone converted my paintings into line art so that they can now be colored. My pieces that are used in the coloring book are the Kraken, Aarakocra, and the Salamander, all favorites of mine for different reasons. Really fun to see them turned into line art for coloring. Now to deal with the temptation to color them like I painted them. Here is a look at the coloring pages of my monsters...

There was an unexpected credits section in the back of the book. Not that I was surprised that the original artist got credit, but that there is a thumbnail of the coloring page, the artist that created the original art, and the original publication of the art. They went that extra mile and that is really neat. There is also a mini color gallery featuring some of the original art used in this book, but none of my color pieces were used in this mini gallery. Here is a look at one of the credit pages...
