Infinity Con Interview

Still playing catch-up after a couple of eventful weeks while being offline. I meant to share this video much sooner, but I was prepping for Gen Con (that I unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute) while sharing everything I had planned for that event. Now that I am back online, more or less, I wanted to share a video put together by Geek Philosophy. They got a lot of footage of the convention and interviewed a bunch of the creatives at the event, and I happen to be one of those creatives. You can find me at 23:52 in the video, or you can watch the entire video below.

The Geek Philosophy of InfinityCon 2025

The Gathering is the Magic Clip: "Christopher Burdett - Loathsome Catoblepas"

During Gen Con 2022, I had an excellent opportunity to speak with the folks behind the upcoming documentary about Magic the Gathering, The Gathering is the Magic. It was a lot of fun and always a good time to talk about art, monsters, and more. In July of this year, I did a follow up interview where I spoke about my work on the game in greater detail, as well as other topics. Another clip from the recent interview has been shared, so I am now sharing it with you.

The Gathering is the Magic - A documentary about how Magic the Gathering brings people together, fosters friendship, and inspires with art and storytelling.

In the interview, I was asked to talk about the cards I created for Magic the Gathering. It was fun to reminisce about the art and monsters I made, the fan response to them, and the behind-the-scenes stories regarding the cards. This clip is about the Loathsome Catoblepas. Enjoy the clip, and check out what else The Gathering is the Magic has been sharing!

The story of the Loathsome Catoblepas, my first card and "the worst card in the game".

That's all for another exciting Wednesday on the blog. See you back here next week! Until then...

The Gathering is the Magic Clip: "Christopher Burdett - Stinging Lionfish"

At Gen Con 2022, I had an excellent opportunity to speak with the folks behind the upcoming documentary about Magic the Gathering, The Gathering is the Magic. It was a lot of fun and always a good time to talk about art, monsters, and more. Last month I did a follow up interview where I talked about my work on the game in greater detail as well as other topics. The first clip from the recent interview has been shared, which means I am now sharing it with you.

The Gathering is the Magic - A documentary about how Magic the Gathering brings people together, fosters friendship and inspires with art and storytelling.

In the recent interview I was asked to talk about each of my cards that I have created for Magic the Gathering. It was fun to reminisce about the art and monsters I created, the fan responce to them, and the behind the scene stories regarding the cards. The first clip to be shared was on the Stinging Lionfish. Enjoy the clip, and check out what else The Gathering is the Magic has been sharing!

The Gathering is the Magic Clip: "Christopher Burdett - I don't care about the knight tell me about the DRAGON!"

At Gen Con, I had an excellent opportunity to speak with the folks behind the upcoming documentary about Magic the Gathering, The Gathering is the Magic. It was a lot of fun and always a good time to talk about art, monsters, and more. They have been sharing clips from the film on social media, and I have already been one of the featured clips. I am happy to share a second clip that dropped last week.

The Gathering is the Magic - A documentary about how Magic the Gathering brings people together, fosters friendship and inspires with art and storytelling.

This time, I talked a bit about my love of monsters, why I like monsters, and what monsters mean to me. I think I can talk endlessly on this subject, but here are two minutes. I can speak of metaphor, symbolism, and more, but at the end of the day, for me, monsters are about 100000x cooler than the heroes. But that is my view of things, and I have made a career of it! Enjoy the clip, and check out what else The Gathering is the Magic has been sharing!

Tell me about the DRAGON. I do not care about the knight.

That's all for another exciting Monday on the blog. See you back here on Wednesday! Until then...

The Gathering is the Magic Clip: "Christopher Burdett wants to steal the Beebles!"

At Gen Con, I had an excellent opportunity to speak with the folks behind the upcoming documentary about Magic the Gathering, The Gathering is the Magic. It was a lot of fun and always a good time to talk about art, monsters, and more.

The Gathering is the Magic - A documentary about how Magic the Gathering brings people together, fosters friendship, and inspires with art and storytelling.

One of the questions I was asked during my interview was if there was any element, aspect, or thing in Magic that I would want to have been mine, what would it be? It was an easy answer; I would love to be the king of the Beebles! Jeff Miracola's freaky pick bear monsters have always been such a visual and tonal outlier to the rest of the game, and I love them for that. And they seem to be eternal, as they continue to pop up repeatedly over the years. So yes, if I was to rewrite history and get to have something become mine in MtG, it would be the Beebles.

For the love of Beebles!
I informed Jeff of this fact at Gen Con so he wouldn't feel like I was coming for him when he saw this.

That's all for another exciting Thursday on the blog! Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow with some thoughts and images regarding IX 2022. Until then...

Open Mic'ers Podcast Interviews

Somehow I failed to post not one but TWO interviews that I did with the great folks over at Open Mic'ers Podcast. The first interview led up to Pensacon in February, and the second interview was a couple of weeks ago. There was so much to talk about that we never got to much the first time around, so we agreed I needed to return to pick up where we left off.

Here are the two interviews that I did. You will need to listen to them in order for the best experience. I hope you enjoy them!

One Fantastic Week Interview

*UPDATE! The Grand Bazaar of Ethra VanDalia is NOW AVAILABLE!*

If you missed it earlier this week, I returned to the One Fantastic Week Podcast and had a great time. I talked about the Grand Bazaar Kickstarter, making art, balancing time, and what I have been up to in the past six years since I was on episode 6 of the podcast 6 years ago. Yes, I am sharing this again, but I don't think it got the attention it deserved on Wednesday. I had a ton of fun, and I think I may have passed along some helpful information.

So far, 49 people have given it a thumbs up while one has given it a thumbs down. Not sure what I did to offend that person's delicate sensibilities, but I hope they reach out to me so that I can address their needs. Go have a watch for yourself and figure out what I may have done to make someone unhappy.

That's all for another exciting week on the blog. See you back here next week! Until then...

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons - Now Out!

I am a little late in getting this one the blog but better late than never! EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons is now out and available for streaming everywhere you like to purchase streamable movies. As you may remember from previous posts that I am featured in the documentary, and I talk about making monster art. There is a really nice review on Geek and Sundry that shares images and clips from the film. Speaking of clips, one of them is me talking about monsters! RAWR!

Just some idiot, talking about monsters while ruining a really awesome documentary

Kelley Slagle, Seth C. Polansky, and Brian Stillman did a tremendous job on the documentary, and I can not say enough good things about it. I HIGHLY recommend you getting a copy and checking it out this weekend. You will not regret it!

Eye of the Beholder Kickstarter NOW LIVE!

Back in October of 2016 I shared with you a teaser trailer for a project I am thrilled to be a part of, EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons Documentary. Time has passed, the film is done, and the Kickstarter to get the film across the finish lines is now LIVE!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cavegirlproductions/eye-of-the-beholder-the-art-of-dungeons-and-dragon?ref=user_menu

It is a true honor and privilege to be a part of this project. If you are interested in Dungeons & Dragons and art then this is the project for you. I can not speak highly enough about the work of Brian Stillman, Kelley Slagle, and Seth C. Polansky. I supported their documentary about the history of Star Wars toys, Plastic Galaxy,  and that film personally touched me. I can not wait to finally watch Eye of the Beholder because I have no doubt that it will be any less amazing than Plastic Galaxy. I STRONGLY urge you to take a moment to go check out the Eye of the Beholder Kickstarter and hopefully contribute at some level.

SciFiction Interview at Pensacon

While I was at Pensacon last month I did a brief interview with the folks at SciFiction. In fact, I did one with them last year but apparently that interview got deleted by a now former employee. Anyway, if you are interested in staring at my huge head while I yammer about things I did and say incorrect words, I present to you this fun filled interview...

Hangin With Web Show Interview

Last month while at Space Coast Comic Con 2016 I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Garrett Pomichter for his series, Hangin With Web Show. I talk about art, working on television and movies, monsters, and I drink a bottle of water really fast. All the important stuff. I babble on for about 15 minutes so hopefully there are a couple of nuggets of wisdom in there. Enjoy...

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons - Documentary - Teaser

Back in November I mentioned that I had the great pleasure to be interviewed by Brian Stillman for the documentary that he, Kelley Slagle, and Seth C. Polansky are working on, Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons. Time has passed and the teaser trailer for the film is now out! Not only does it look completely amazing and there are a ton of amazing artist featured in the teaser, but I am in it too. Or should I say, the pre Pokemon Go version of myself. If you did not click the link above to watch the teaser trailer, here it is...

If you missed me in the trailer I am the second artist featured, here is a screen shot so you know what to look for...

Captial City Pedicabs Interview

I was recently interviewed by the entertainment wing of Capital City Pedicabs about my art and being an artist. You can head over to their site and check out the interview at your convenience!

https://ccpblognews.wordpress.com/2016/04/07/entertainment-spotlight-artist-christopher-burdett/
Everything you may and may not already know about me over on the CCP News site!

As a side note this should have all happened sooner. The fine folks over at CCP actually reached out to me before my last convention appearance at AltCon. Unfortunately, Facebook decided to filter their message that they sent to me and I never saw it until last week. I had a whole folder of filtered messages that FB thought I didn't need to know about. Including a request from the local paper to interview me about my art and Star Wars last December before the release of The Force Awakens. Thanks Facebook, thanks a LOT!

One Fantastic Week

If you have not heard about it, Peter Mohrbacher and Sam Flegal are doing something pretty cool over on Google Hangout. They are doing a weekly live chat where they talk about the previous week working as fantasy artists. They talk about what they are working on, the ups, the downs, they answer questions, and for some reason on their December 23rd live cast... they had me on as a guest! RAWR!

If you would like check out more you can see them over on youtube or on Pete's Google+ page. They are up to 7 episodes and in the most recent episode they invite on Sean Andrew Murray as a special guest. I strongly encourage you to check it out! I have known Pete and Sam for a number of years now and can't speak highly enough of them as people, artists, and businessmen.
