I took some pictures of the miniatures so you can compare how the finals turned out compared to my designs. This is a really solid batch of minis and they are extremely true to my designs, I could not be happier! I think the Lloigor is my favorite of this set. Always happy when the transition from paper to plastic produces a great looking miniature. See for yourself...

This now makes 12 Arkham Horror monsters released! I have six more out there in the ether somewhere just waiting to take shape and cause madness. As you might recall, I designed these back in 2009, and I have been patiently waiting ever since. Looks like the good folks at FFG are releasing a new wave every couple months, so maybe I will not have to wait too much longer to enjoy the fruits of my labor!
Here is a group shot of the three miniatures... three monsters, just chillin' in the garden... looking to cause death and madness... RAWR!
Arkham Horror Monsters - Wave 3
(Just mine, this is not all of them)
That is all for another madness inducing Wednesday, see you back here on Friday for more fun! Until then...

dude these are great! The Lloigor is my favorite! I'm a big fan of big gross gums protruding from retracted lips... on monsters that is.
ReplyDeleteDid you give them an idea about color or was it all up to them?
Thanks! :) Yeah, REALLY happy with how the Lloigor turned out.
ReplyDeleteThese were all based on established monsters in the Arkham Horrors board game. A lot of the color palettes were already determined from art in the game. Though, like a lot of the resource images I was give there was a great deal left up to be determined when fleshing these out as fully three dimensional designs. I think the Lloigor stock art was rather dark and the creature was not fully visible, so I had to work out the full anatomy and I guess a decision was made to make it pale, and it looks great that way. Creatures like the Star Vampire were cropped in on just the front so I had to create the back, sides and figure out how the creature is going to look as a whole. The resource art for the Crawling One was really vague, so I pretty much created that one from the ground up. But in the end I have no control on the colors, just how it will look in 3D.
Dude, thanks for the link. Great job! I'm really impressed by how close the sculpting got to your designs. I like your miniature illustrations because they have this really OLD school feel to them, like I'm reading one of the first sets of Dragon magazines or something :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, I thought this batch really turned out well. Glad you are enjoying the designs, they were really fun to work on even though I have been waiting since 2009 to finally share them :P
