IX9 - Illuxcon 2016 Prep

IX9 is next week and I have been frantically getting ready for this show for weeks. This year will find Illuxcon in its new home in Reading, Pa at the GoggleWorks Arts Center and it will be my first year in the main show! Really looking forward to IX this year and it will be a very long and very full week of travel, setup, showing, take down, and travel. Thrilled to be seeing so many familiar faces and looking forward to meeting new people. I am bringing a ton of art with me, all of which should be arriving in Reading sometime today. This year all of my art if traveling in three large boxes and barring any calamity it will all arrive safely at the GoggleWorks. The blog will be on auto pilot next week with posts about my drawings from Kaladesh, but when I return from IX the following week I will be sure to share my experiences. Until then, I have for you some images of boxes and things going into boxes...

Kaladesh Artist Proofs NOW AVAILABLE!

All regular and foil artist proofs of my Kaladesh cards are NOW AVAILABLE in my store! This includes the Salivating Gremlins, FOIL Salivating Gremlins, Narnam Cobra, FOIL Narnam Cobra, Fretwork Colony, and FOIL Fretwork Colony. All of my artist proofs come signed and numbered and the standard APs are limited to 50 and the foil versions are limited to 30. As always, there is an option to just buy the artist proof or to get a unique, one of a kind sketch on the back of the card.

While my monsters tend to be either male or gender-less, this monster is purposely female. I have wanted to do a piece that uses my wife as the reference... and she has been eager to pose. An idea and piece finally came around that I thought she would be a good fit. I will share more regarding this piece at a later date when I talk about the process, it is still fresh off the work station, and I need some distance to properly talk about it. EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons - Documentary - Teaser

Back in November I mentioned that I had the great pleasure to be interviewed by Brian Stillman for the documentary that he, Kelley Slagle, and Seth C. Polansky are working on, Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons. Time has passed and the teaser trailer for the film is now out! Not only does it look completely amazing and there are a ton of amazing artist featured in the teaser, but I am in it too. Or should I say, the pre Pokemon Go version of myself. Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event Recap

I had a great time this past Saturday at the Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event in Gainesville, Fl. Did a lot of drawing, met some great people, and signed some cards. A big thanks to Justin Rix for hosting the event and having me out. I hope they were able to raise a good bit of money for Cystic Fibrosis research. I have some images from the day and they are mostly things that I drew...

This may have been my favorite set of the day.

I was asked to sketch a monster ghost man from another Magic card and the art of so small I had to go look it up on the web so I could figure out what the heck I was even looking at. This was a strange monster.

At the beginning of the day I was asked to draw an elemental and later in the say I was asked to color it.

The only fatality of the day. It seems the new artist proofs have a different coating or they are a different paper stock, but which ever my ink is not sticking to it they way it use to. I thought this zombie Yoda was dry, I certainly gave it a LONG time to dry... sadly it was not and smeared going into its sleeve.

I looked up briefly at one point and people were playing Magic.
