Very Near Mint volume three

I may have first mentioned VNM volume 3 way back in February of 2013 but the wait has well been worth it because VNM3 is now out in the world! I am happy to also share my contribution to this new graphic novel. I have more then once mentioned Justin Perterson's graphic novel series that includes VNM1, Uncanny VNM, and VNM2. Over the years I have taken Justin's characters and turned them into monsters and put them in harms way, and this time is no different. Here is my contribution to Very Near Mint volume 3...

This piece was a lot of fun to work on and I was more then thrilled to be a part of VNM3. Also nice to help a friend and live vicariously in comics through someone else. Here are some images of the piece in process...

Mutants taking shape in red and blue.

Mutants in black and white... and some gray.

If you need another reason to pick up VNM3... how about you need to get it because I am in the book as a character! There was an option in Justin's Kickstarter for VNM3 to be a character in the book and I was quick to jump on that. While enjoying your copy of VNM make sure you keep an eye out for me...

Very Near Mint 3 with special guest star... ME!

That is all for another exciting Monday on the blog, see you back here on Wednesday! Until then...

Very Near Mint volume 3 - Kickstarter

If you are familiar with the blog then the names Very Near Mint and Justin Peterson might be familiar to you. If not, Very Near Mint is an AMAZING series of graphic novel by the ridiculously talented Justin Peterson. Justin currently has a new Kickstarter up to fund the publishing of the third volume in the Very Near Mint epic super amazing trilogy! The good news is that the book is already funded, the BETTER news is that are also a bunch of great additional rewards already unlocked that you can receive by funding at the right price point! Head over to the VNM volume 3 Kickstater for all the details!!! ALSO, if you are thinking to yourself, "But I don't have volume 1 or 2, why would I fund volume 3?", don't worry, Justin has you covered!

If all the additional prints, cards sets, and name badges aren't enough of an incentive to own a great book like VNM, then maybe the fact that my art is in all the volumes will help seal the deal. I have contributed a pin up for all the volumes of VNM (and Uncanny VNM) and I am happy to say that I will have a piece in Very Near Mint volume 3! Here is a look at my previous contributions...

The piece that I have produced for Very Near Mint volume 3 will be in full color and will fracture some things I have not drawing since I was a youth and have been itching to revisit. I am really happy with how it turned out and I think Justin is as well. I will leave you with a sneak peak of things to come...

Very Near Mint volume two

Once again I have had the privilege to contribute to another of Justin Peterson's comic projects, Very Near Mint volume 2! You may remember my contributions to Very Near Mint volume one and Uncanny Very Neat Mint. It was a real thrill to be able to one again have some of my work share the same pages as Justin's. Justin gave me free reign again and so I continue abstracting his characters more and more. Turning them into Godzilla and Mothra was not enough apparently, this time around I made them more alien...

Once again, I can not recommend the comic stylings of Justin enough. His work is super awesome and in VNM v2 he takes it to a whole new level of awesome! Here is a pic of the cover of VNM v2 (just so you know you are buying the right graphic novel!).

If you blow past all the amazing comic art in VNM v2 and get to the back you will see my pin up in all its glory. I am told volume 3 of Very Neat Mint will be in the works before we know it and I hope that I have a chance to contribute to it! I will do my best to reel it in a bit with any new pin up, I may have gotten a little too wacky with this last one... or maybe not?

Uncanny Very Near Mint

Recently, I had the privilege once again to contribute to another of Justin Peterson's comic projects, Uncanny Very Near Mint. You may remember my contribution to his first graphic novel that came out last year. It was a real thrill to be able to one again have some of my work share the same pages as Justin's stellar work (as well as the very talented Lee Bretschneider and Tara Abbamondi!). This time around Justin gave me free reign and didn't want to see it until I was finished, so I went back to my roots and had some Godzilla fun...

Once again, I can not recommend the comic stylings of Justin enough. His work is super awesome and in Uncanny he is joined by two other outstanding artists to make a great little anthology. Here is a pic of the cover of Uncanny VNM (just so you know you are buying the right comic!).

Uncanny Very Near Mint by Justin Peterson!

If blow past all the amazing comic art in Uncanny VNM and get to the back you will see my monster pin up in all its black and white glory. I am told volume 2 of Very Neat Mint will be done soon, so that means I need to get moving on another pin up!

Very Near Mint volume one

Recently, I had the privilege to contribute to Justin Peterson's first graphic novel, Very Near Mint volume one. I have known Justin and his most excellent work for a while now and it was a real treat to be included on this project. He has been laboring away day and night on his graphic novel, and now through hard work and perseverance he has made it a reality! I made for him a pin-up that featured his main characters reenacting the cover of Fantastic Four #1...

I can't speak highly enough of Justin and his work. If you like books full of great looking comic art and a great story I can't recommend Very Near Mint volume one enough. Justin has been doing the convention circuit lately getting the word out, but I managed to use my connections to get my copy so that I can share my contribution. Here is a look at the cover...

If you blow past all the amazing work that Justin put into VNM you will find a pin-up section in the back of the book. Since my last name begins with a 'B' I got to go first! I am really happy with how it reproduced. I hope Justin thinks of me when volume two is in production!

One more time, just in case you missed it before, if you are interesting in more information or in purchasing a copy, there is a handy dandy website devoted to Very Near Mint volume one!

That is all for today, I will see you back here on Friday! Until then...
