Twenty-two years and one month later, we are funded and on our way to the printers! My endless thanks to everyone that helped to make this day a reality. We could not have done it with you. MANY thanks to Achsa Nute, Steve Leacock, Jon Schindehette, Brian Stillman, and Jeff Solomon for all their work to get the books finished and the Kickstarter created. To all that recorded themselves reading sections of the book, Allen Panakal, Ralph Horsley, Kayla King, Daniel Hooker, Chris Seaman, Iris Compiet, Scott M Fischer, Jabari Weathers, and of course the great Todd Lockwood, THANK YOU for your time and energy to support the project. My personal thanks go to Jason Pedersen, Amy Jiao,  Kat G Birmelin, and last but certainly not least, Jacob Walker for their time and artistic talent in coloring my monsters. And lastly, thanks to each and every one of you that backed the Kickstarter, shared the links, shouted from the rooftops, and supported me along the way! We made it! It's done, and there will be books soon!

After a little rest, it will be time to double down on getting back to work on the next books in the series. I have many more stories to tell, monsters to create, and art to make.

I have a lot of non-Grand Bazaar blog posts to share with you. Stuff that has been sitting around and waiting for me to have the time to share it. Well, now that the Kickstarter is over and the Grand Bazaar is out of my hands, I will have that time.

Kickstarter Roundup - Seaman

Today on the blog, I wanted to point out a current Kickstarter project by my friend Chris Seaman that I think you all might be interested in. Chris is a super awesome artist, and if you have not already checked him out, you should do so NOW!

Chris Seaman's A Book of Monster Paper Dolls (and more) Kickstarter

Chris Seaman's A Book of Monster Paper Dolls (and more) Kickstarter is not to be missed! Chris is building off of his very successful tiny monster portraits, Cameo Creeps, to give us a better look at the world he is building. For the first time, Chris' monsters break free from their frames and can be seen in their entirety, and you get to dress them! As the title implies, Chris's monsters will be presented in paper doll format with outfits and accessories galore. Here is a glimpse of what you can expect.

From the Kickstarter, "Hear, Ye! Hear, Ye!  Cameo Creeps Presents A Book of Monster Paper Dolls (8.5" x 11", Softcover, Full Color) is a spooky twist on the classic paper doll.  I'll be releasing 12 individual monster dolls inspired by their Cameo Creeps paintings. (Black & White Sketches are Works-In-Progress)"

But that's not all! Also available as part of the Kickstarter is the very first Cameo Creeps Novella, written by G. D. Falksen and illustrated by Chris Seaman. More about this over on the Kickstarter!

From the Kickstarter, "I'll also be releasing the first illustrated Cameo Creeps Novella "The Case of the Carnivorous Crown" (5" x 7", Hardcover, Black & White). Written by G. D. Falksen, this 152-page hardcover book is filled to the sarcophagus with my pen & ink illustrations."

Kickstarter Roundup - Flegal, Sass, Seaman, and Walpole!

Today on the blog I wanted to point out some current Kickstarter projects by friends of mine that I think you all might be interested it. Most of these have just begun or have a while still to go and at least two of them are already funded. All of these campaigns feature amazing art by awesome people and if you have not already checked them out, you should do so NOW! 

Sam Flegal's Fateful Signs: The Illustrated Voluspa

First up is Sam Flegal's Fateful Signs: The Illustrated Voluspa. I shared with you Sam's Fateful Signs: The Illustrated Havamal Kickstarter from last year which I was really excited about. I am even more excited about his new book in the series. The art looks to be even better, the book looks to be even better, and Sam is really hitting his stride with his Fateful Signs work. I can not speak highly enough about this Sam's work and I strongly urge you to be a part of this campaign. Even if you missed his first book, you can still get one through the current campaign!

Mike Sass's Epic Fantasy Painting DVD

Second is Mike Sass's Epic Fantasy Painting DVD. Mike is a great guy with a gorgeous painting style and he has worked on a ton of great projects producing beautiful art. This DVD covers his entire painting process and goes into a lot of detail on how we approaches a painting. From drawing, shooting reference, color theory, and painting process and technique this 5.5 hour DVD tutorial is a must for students and aspiring artists. Even veteran artists that are making the transistion to oils can learn a lot from Mike's DVD. I urge you to go check out the campaign and support Mike's efforts!

Chris Seaman's Cameo Creeps Set III

Third is Chris Seaman's Cameo Creeps Set III. Again, I have shared Chris's previous Cameo CreepsKickstarter here on the blog. I love Chris's work and we own three Cameo Creeps originals as part of our art collection. Chris is building up an amazing empire of original monsters and I STRONGLY urge you to take the time to head over and see what Chris is doing if you are unfamiliar with his work. Cameo Creeps is only going to get bigger and better so you don't want to miss out on the new Creeps. Earlier sets are sold out, so you need to act fast!

Tyler Walpole's Blood of the Dragons: Prelude

Last, but not least, is Tyler Walpole's Blood of the Dragons: Prelude. In Tyler's own words, "Over the last few years, between freelance illustration gigs, I have been slowly developing my own urban-fantasy story setting, called: Blood of Dragons. And now, I’m asking your help to bring the first art book in the series into the world." Tyler is an amazing guy and I love his work. He has been knocking it out of the part with his Blood of Dragons work and it is so exciting to finally see it coming together. You need to see what he is doing, so head on over to Tyler's campaign and be a part of the world he is building!

Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism

Files this under better late then never because I am VERY behind on getting stuff up on the blog right now. I am THRILLED to announce that I am currently part of a massive group show, Dream Worlds: The Art of Imaginative Realism, at the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, OH. The most excellent and amazing Chris Seaman has put the show together and asked me to be a part of it. The show opened in late November and will be running through March 12. The list of participating artists is amazing and from what I have seen the show is amazing. I would like to thank Kaleigh Pisani-Paige form the Canton Museum of Art for sending me some images of my work hanging in the show...

A SUPER big thanks to Chris for including me in the show. I really wish I could get to Canton to see it in person. As you can see I have 4 of my toned paper monsters in attendance. Kickstarter Roundup - Chris Seaman, Ralph Horsley, & Artorder

Today I have for you three active Kickstarters that you should check out if you already haven't. All three are from folks near and dear to me and I would really like to see their projects funded and their dreams made reality.

First up, Cameo Creeps by Chris Seaman! I LOVE these miniature monster portraits. Love them so much we own three of the originals and proudly display them. Now is your chance to get your hands on an original or any number of the reproductions. I can not express enough how cool these are.

Second, Wildborn by Ralph Horsley! Ralph had been working on a series of dragon paintings that feature dragons in their natural habitats for a number of years now and he is finally collecting them into one book. I am a big fan of these pieces as well. The very first piece of art my wife ever bought was one of the very first Wildborn pieces Ralph created. It is the dragon by the waterfall in the image below. It is still most likely my wife's favorite piece that we own. I can't wait to see and have the finished book.

Last, but not least, ArtOrder Invitational: The Journal art book by Artorder (Jon Schindehette)! Jon have been working on this for two years and brings together a very impressive group of artists who will be sharing their work and creative process in this journal. This looks amazing and should be interesting for artist and non artist alike. My words will fail at how cool this is, you just need to follow the links and check it out yourself. This is one not to miss.

Kickstarter Roundup - Miller, Flegel, Manomivibul, and Seaman!

Today on the blog I wanted to point out some current and upcoming Kickstarter projects by friends of mine that I think you all might be interested it. These run the gamut of ending very soon, right in the middle, starting tomorrow, and soon to launch. All feature amazing art by awesome people and if you have not already checked them out, you should do so NOW! 

Aaron Miller's Collector Tokens Kickstarter

First up is Aaron Miller's Collector Tokens Kickstarter! I shared this on the blog last month leading up to the launch of the campaign. Aaron was using the new social mediea amplifier Thunderclap to get out the word. Since then this Kickstarter has been doing GREAT and will be ending VERY soon. If you have not already checked it out now if the time. Many stretch goals have been unlocked and you will be getting a lot of bang for you buck.

Sam Flegal's Fateful Signs: The Illustrated Havamal

Second up is Sam Flegal's Fateful Signs: The Illustrated Havamal! I am so excited about this one. Sam recently created a series of illustrations centered around the Havamal, a collection of ancient Norse wisdom. He is collecting his art, the original text, the translation of the original text, and the notes from the translator. There are a ton of tier to support this campaign at with loads of add on and extras. This is definitely one Kickstarter to now miss out on. Michael Manomivibul's Fathoms Art Book

Third on the list is Michael Manomivibul's Fathoms Art Book! This campaign starts tomorrow and will be a collection of Michael's work spanning from 2009 to the present. This is the first major collection of Michael's work and you should not miss this opportunity to get your hands on it. If you are unfamiliar with Michael's work you should check out his website or just Head to his Kickstarter. You will not be disappointed.

Last but certainly not least is the announcement that Chris Seaman will have a Cameo Creeps Kickstarter coming to us in the near future. If you are unfamiliar with the Cameo Creeps that Chris creates then head over to his website to check them out. I absolutely love them and we own three of them in our collection. The details of the campaign are currently unknown, but I am confident that this will be one not to miss. You can follow Chris on Kickstarter so that don't miss the launch of his next campaign. No matter what, Chris will forever upped the ante for the communities Kickstarters, we will all now need to have miniature sets.
