Theros Beyond Death Prerelease - TONIGHT!

If you are in the greater Tallahassee area, I will be appearing at Gamescape tonight for their Theros Beyond Death Prerelease event. I will be signing cards and will have prints, artist proofs, playmats, and original art with me. Those attending will have the opportunity to get their hands on my new Theros Beyond Death prints! I will have prints of the Shimmerwing Chimera and Stinging Lionfish. Each is limited to an edition of twenty and come signed and numbered. I will also be offering the pair at a slightly reduced price! I hope to see you out at Gamscape tonight!

Theros Beyond Death Prerelease

I am happy to announce that I will be at the Theros Beyond Death prerelease at Gamescape on Friday, January 17th, at the 8:00 pm. You can expect my arrival before the event, and I will be on hand for several hours signing cards. I will have a few original drawings with me, as well as playmats, artist proofs, and prints. If all goes to plan, I will also have a very limited run of the two Theros Beyond Death cards that have been spoiled, Stinging Lionfish and Shimmerwing Chimera.

My first Magic the Gathering set was the original Theros that was released in 2013, so it is wonderful to be back to both Theros and Gamescape. I hope to see you there are all the excitement and fun that is a Magic the Gathering prerelease!

Aether Revolt Prerelease Recap

Over the weekend I took part in the prerelease events for Aether Revolt at Gamescape in Tallahassee, Fl. It was a fun time out there Friday night. Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event Recap

I had a great time this past Saturday at the Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event in Gainesville, Fl. Did a lot of drawing, met some great people, and signed some cards. A big thanks to Justin Rix for hosting the event and having me out. I hope they were able to raise a good bit of money for Cystic Fibrosis research. I have some images from the day and they are mostly things that I drew...

This may have been my favorite set of the day.

I was asked to sketch a monster ghost man from another Magic card and the art of so small I had to go look it up on the web so I could figure out what the heck I was even looking at. This was a strange monster.

At the beginning of the day I was asked to draw an elemental and later in the say I was asked to color it.

The only fatality of the day. It seems the new artist proofs have a different coating or they are a different paper stock, but which ever my ink is not sticking to it they way it use to. I thought this zombie Yoda was dry, I certainly gave it a LONG time to dry... sadly it was not and smeared going into its sleeve.

I looked up briefly at one point and people were playing Magic.

Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event Appearance this Weekend!

I will be a guest at Cast A Breath Of Life - Charity Magic Event tomorrow, October 1, in Gainesville, Fl. Cast A Breath Of Life is an annual event that raises money for Cystic Fibrosis research and is centered around Magic the Gathering. If you are in the Gainesville area, or in central Florida in general, I hope to see you there! I will have all of my Magic the Gathering prints, artist proofs, and much more with me and will be happily signing cards all day. Events run 11am - 4pm and I will be on hand all day.  I am told there will be plenty of signage and balloons marking the way...

Kaladesh Prerelease Recap

Over the weekend I took part in the prerelease events for Kaladesh at Gamescape in Tallahassee, Fl. It was a fun time out there Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Always exciting to see players opening their first packs of a new set and getting to see my cards for the first time. A HUGE thanks to Ben and Aras for having me out and for all the hospitality. C-3PO Marvel Sketch Cover and Free Comic Book Day

Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day and as I previously announced I will be at Fallout Comics. As part of the FCBD festivities I did a mixed media piece on a blank cover release of C-3PO #001 that came out from Marvel Comics a couple weeks ago. Those attending FCBD at Fallout Comics will be the first to give this piece a forever home after that it will be available on my store if I still have it. Here is a look at the final cover...

This was a really fun low stress piece to work on. It was also very fun to play around with three different material on one piece. This was also a great chance to do a study of my C-3PO 12" figure from the 90's. I don't do a lot of mechanical pieces so this was a fun departure. Hopefully this will be well received and give me a chance to do more of these sketch covers from the Star Wars comics. It was sure a lot of fun to make!

I made sure to capture some images of the cover coming together, so here are some images of the piece coming together as well as an animated progression to better show the difference from step to step. I worked up entire piece in Copic Marker first then went in with pencil. I worked up the entire piece after that going back and forth between marker and pencil. Finally I went in with acrylic paint to punch up the highlights and finish it all off.

You might remember that I took part in their FCBD festivities last year. I had a ton of fun so I am really looking forward to returning. I have added two new appearances this year!

The first new appearance will be Saturday May 2nd at Fallout Comic for Free Comic Book Day. I will be be there set up for most of the day with all original art, prints, books, artist proofs and much more. As an added bonus, it is Free Comic Book day, so after you see me you can get some FREE comics!

Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease

I had the opportunity to be  part of the Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease events in Tallahassee over the weekend and had a blast at Gamescape. Since I did not have to travel I was able to bring a bunch of stuff with me that and set up a full booth. I signed a bunch of cards, sketched some tokens, watched a lot of Magic get played, and had some fun.

A foil Gudul Lurker was pulled during the first sealed tournament of the Prerelease and is was pretty cool to see one in the flesh so soon... OH! Shiny!
